Hosting a Panel at MAD//Fest on Charting the Rise of Women in Advertising

Inspired by 100 years of Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership, the recent Channel 4 documentary Mad Women explored how female trailblazers shook up the misogynistic world of advertising in decades past to create some of the world’s most iconic ad campaigns and change how advertising represents women.

It featured trailblazers including Carol Reay, the first woman in Adland to have her name above the door, Barbara Nokes, dubbed the real-life Peggy Olsen, Daryl Fielding, who was responsible for Dove’s Real Beauty campaign, and director Tajana Tokyo of Apple Music Superbowl fame.

Lori Meakin, WACL Exec member and author of No More Menemies, will chair a panel where women leaders, including some from the documentary, will discuss what we can learn from the women in whose footsteps we tread, and what more still needs to be done.
